Probably the slickest eatery in Mumbles, The Mermaid majors in great-value modern food with a strong local flavour. The lounge area doubles as a bar, so you can pop in by day or night for a drink
or mezze-style snacks. In the main restaurant, expect pretty creations such as sea bass & lobster sushi with sweet chilli dressing & a spiced cockle fritter, or slow-baked pork shoulder
with homemade pork sausage, roasted pork loin & a coarse-grain mustard sauce. You’d be hard pressed to find more enthusiastically sourced food – the place even has its own fisherman. At its
most local, the menu might feature a cockle, laverbread & bacon tart or a main course of pan-fried sea bass with lobster bisque sauce. Trendy desserts range from honey & lavender crème
brûlée to fresh lemon posset with lemon curd ice cream.
