At first glance, it looks like your average, old-fashioned town boozer, but the Ginger Pig is actually a light & airy gastropub, serving expertly cooked modern European food at reasonable
prices. From the team behind Brighton’s much-loved Gingerman, this fresh new venture also follows the ‘seasonal & local’ ethos – with a few add-ons from elsewhere. An appealing starter of roast
quail with pancetta, braised lentils, pistachio & white onion purée might give way to braised lamb suet pudding with cauliflower mousseline, field mushrooms, garlic & parsley butter or a
dish of pan-fried cod & crispy salt cod brandade with parsley gnocchi, buttered leeks, beetroot rémoulade & beurre noisette. Desserts show a retro twist (sticky date pudding with Baileys
custard & honeycomb ice cream, for example), & the wine list stretches much further than your average pub offering.
