Controversial German artist Carsten Höller is the brains behind this curious hybrid – in fact The Double Club has something of a split personality, bringing together Western influences with ideas
inspired by Höller’s African travels. A dance club rotates Congolese & London DJs, the glass-roofed courtyard bar is ablaze with murals of Kinshasa beer, & the eclectically decorated
restaurant is driven by Momo main man Mourad Mazouz. Congolese & Western dishes sit side by side, & diners are invited to mix & match: our meal included juicy giant shrimp in a garlicky
piquant sauce, vividly spiced goat stew, & French-inspired wild boar terrine. The food is fine as it goes, but this venue is really about high energy & electric atmosphere, with pretty
young things packing the place nightly. The Double Club is only due to stay open until late summer, so it’s worth getting there soon.
