Square Meal Review of The Cinnamon Club ?

SquareMeal Review

A vision of oriental excellence within the baroque grandeur of The Old Westminster Library, the fabulously aristocratic Cinnamon Club is a perfect fit for business, as Westminster insiders and others network behind panelled walls and shelves of antiquarian books. Intoxicating aromas fill the air, and Vivek Singh’s ‘lovingly spiced’ high-end cuisine speaks of dynamic India today as he gives traditional recipes a sharply accented, Euro-inspired makeover. Tandoori breast of Anjou pigeon is mollified with smoked-paprika raita, grilled Scottish scallops are accompanied by hot lentil chutney and smoked Devon-crab purée, while roast loin of wild Cumbrian red deer is served with rock moss and onion sauce – ‘we couldn’t fault anything’, admits one diner. Extravagant east-west desserts also keep standards sky-high. ‘Beautifully matched wines’ and impeccable service – plus Bollywood movies and cocktails in the subterranean bar – seal the deal at this ‘rightfully revered’ class act.

Fd Over LDN :: Cinnamon Club with Eric Chavot

Yet again, I've managed to be the lucky beneficiary of a free meal courtesy of some promotion or another on twitter. Yes, I'm a jammy ****, but you gotta be in it to win it, heed my advice and keep your eyes on the prize, especially during a time like London restaurant festival.
This was a Amex LRF event called 'Kitchen influentials' with Vivek Singh, of the Cinnamon Club, and Eric Chavot, who was head chef at the Capital hotel restaurant when it claimed it's 2 michelin stars (and subsequently lost, when he left). So with this pedigree I was eagerly anticipating their preset menu, what french influences would...

Private Dining at The Cinnamon Club

The Private Dining Room is located adjacent to the Main Dining Room and has a similar grandeur. Glass panelling separates the two rooms, which allows privacy whilst at the same time retaining the feel of the restaurant. Perfect when searching for Central London meeting rooms.

Overlooking the main dining room, the Mezzanine offers guests a private area within the restaurant itself. Set above the main dining room, this eyrie benefits fully from the ambience and 'buzz' of the main restaurant below. The room is ideal for informal events such as birthday, anniversaries, team celebrations, networking events and gastronomic receptions – from 12 to 50 (reception-style).

The Library Bar is the original Reading room in the old Westminster Library, and the room retains a relaxed atmosphere. The room is also available for private dining events at lunchtime and is ideal for smaller, more formal corporate lunches. Seating capacity 24 or 50 (reception-style).

Vivek Singh

Vivek Singh shocked his family when he rebuffed expectations to become an engineer & instead announced that he wanted to become a chef. After graduating from college, he joined the Oberoi Hotel group, first working at their flight kitchens in Mumbai. He later moved to the Grand Hotel in Calcutta & then the Oberoi's flagship Rajvilas, in Jaipur. Singh had been reading Escoffier from an early age & at Rajvilas devoured books by Marco Pierre White & Charlie Trotter. He got the opportunity to come to work in the UK when the Cinnamon Club opened in 2001. Since then, Singh has written two books, the Cinnamon Club Cookbook & the Cinnamon Club Seafood Cookbook.
