Beautifully positioned by the river Thames, Strok’s Restaurant comes into its own in the summer, when guests can sit outside on the picturesque terrace. Inside, the stiff white tablecloths, comfy
chairs and sleek, elegant setting do well to complement the tasty cooking. An amouse bouche of gazpacho is a tastebud awakener for the starters to follow: the pressed terrine of rabbit and foie
gras with wild mushroom and Cumberland Sauce, and home-smoked salmon with poached egg dressed with a fresh horseradish and cucumber salsa, are both palate-pleasing and full of flavour. Mains are
equally impressive: Dover sole is cooked to flaky perfection, while plump and delicately seared scallops are enhanced with crisp pancetta, globe artichokes and a carrot and coriander puree with
langoustine essence. Make sure you save space for desserts, such as the apple and plum tarte tatin with creme fraiche ice cream, and take time to linger over the well-executed wine-list, which
includes some rare vintages.
