Cheerful Scousers Jonathan & Martina Myerscough ditched their careers in marketing to take on the renovation of this handsome 250-year-old pub in the heart of the Ribble Valley. Flowers spill
out of pots on the lovely south-facing terrace and the views stretch out to Longridge Fell, but this is a winter pub too, with roaring fires in the stone flagged bar, books to read & gleaming
oak furniture. Beer comes from neighbouring Clitheroe; enjoy a pint of Grindleton Ribble Rouser with members of the local shoot during the season. The menu often features what they have bagged:
pot-roast Bowland pheasant is earthy & dense, while all sorts of game is packed into rich casseroles with red cabbage. Sausages are made on the premises to a secret recipe. For afters,
blackcurrant sponge & liquorice ice-cream in a biscuit basket jumps off the plate.
