I've been coming here myself and booking it for my boss for years, it's my favourite in the market, he likes it too! I just love the ambience, the food and the service. Makes this restaurant an absolute gem.

They definitely need to add the bruschetta back to the menu – it was a shame to see this missing. Otherwise friendly service and decent food, amongst us we had Burrata and tartar (steak/tuna) to start and mains of seared tuna and paradelle meatballs for mains. The cappuccino to finish was especially good quality.

The restaurant is over two floors. The stairs are very steep so be very careful when coming down, The menu is good. I can recommend the lamb cutlets. I have visited this restaurant on several occasions before and have always been pleased the service, food and wine on offer. Well worth a visit.

I think the food here is of a high standard and authentic, with some different items to the chains. Service is personal and relaxed. Enjoyable but the stairs are not for the less mobile.

Although you have to go up steep steps to reach the restaurant which is in the centre of Leadenhall Market, it is well worth a visit. The food is very authentic, the atmosphere is informal but very high quality.

Excellent Italian restaurant. The only downside is the steep staircase that leads up to the restaurant.

Once the stairs have been negotiated , there is a good restaurant with fine food.

I've been going to Osteria del Mercato for about 18 months. It is a great antidote to the usual city eateries of sharp lines, bling, and prices to match, or the spit and sawdust cardboard sandwich. Italians in the square mile are few and far between, and outside l'Anima it is hard to find one that you would recommend to a friend. The fact is, food in the Square Mile is still poor by West End/West London standards Osteria del Mercado tries neither to be flash nor typical. A bright and airy room on the first floor above the Lamb Tavern, accessed by some very steep stairs, is a delight and takes you away from the noise and bustle of the Leadenhall Market below. Friendly staff greet you and lead you to one of the two small rooms that constitute the entire restaurant. Food is simple home made Italian specialties from the usual antipasti with a couple of twists such as a very light salmon mousse with avocado to delicious pasta and risotti. The casarecci with broccoli and pancetta is superb, as is the papardelle with veal ragu. Mains of a more robust nature include a generous sized Veal Milanese with sauteed potatoes or various fish specials. Every day the specials change and are both thoughtful and different. Worth a try and very good value, and I would happily recommend it to both friends from out of town, to colleagues and clients.

My third visit for a business lunch in the last six months, so I thought a review was now due. This is a really good restaurant. After you have conquered the steep stairs you get to a light and airy room and receive a lovely, relaxed welcome from one of the great staff. That is one of the best things about this perky little Italian-you can genuinely have a relaxing meal, with just the right amount of attention to suit and carried out in a really nice way-it is very refreshing. It also makes hosts and guests relax in equal measure. The menu is short and simple -Antipasti, Pasta, Fish/Meat. We had Veal Milanese and Grilled Fish. Lovely. Simple accompaniments of spinach and fried courgette were perfect. In previous visits I have tried various starters and they have been very good. Overall, I really rate this restaurant. Managed and run by very nice, experienced people producing great food in a lovely atmosphere. Fantastico!
