Welshman Bryn Williams is very much at home in this gastronomic evergreen, and his razor-sharp food squares nicely with the denizens of affluent Primrose Hill. Everything here is on a human scale,
with swanky but comforting interiors, charmingly attentive service and even a little garden for the warmer months. Bryn’s cooking has enough fashionable clout to keep punters interested, and he
delivers refined flavours without gilding the lily. To begin, a lasagne of crayfish blew one reader away, although others have raved about the ‘stunning’ roast wood pigeon with foie gras, pickled
cherries and chocolate. After that, perfectly timed wild sea trout with farfalle, brown shrimps and samphire is a model of thoughtful composition, while the signature Jaffa cake with orange cream
and marmalade remains a standout dessert. With a rather sophisticated, atmospheric bar tacked on, Odette’s is an enduring class act.
We’d read and heard some good things about Odette’s on various occasions and were less familiar with the restaurants scene around Primrose Hill. As a result we decided to try them out when they were offering a special Valentine’s tasting menu. Although the name of the restaurant does give it away, I hadn’t realised that there was a proper bar area connected to Odette’s, located in the basement of the restaurant. And I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised by decoration, which was dark and soulful with different corners where guests can snuggle away during the warm winter months with a nice cocktail in hand...

great british in camden. this post marks the end of my current spate of london reviews as I have graduated from four years of brilliant university life and am returning to singapore to my family and for work.
