Come nightfall, Pont De La Tour’s bespoke Bar & Grill delivers on its promise of ‘views, melodies and candlelight’ – not surprising given its fabulous riverside location. In contrast to the
smartly appointed restaurant, this venue comes with blue-and-white colour schemes, rows of bare tables and stools at the bar. Charcuterie, crustacea and grills are the mainstays of a menu that also
taps into the French repertoire for, say, croque monsieur, salt cod brandade, Toulouse sausage with lyonnaise potatoes and grilled lamb shoulder with petits pois à la française, followed by crème
caramel and îles flottantes. A pianist provides melodious accompaniment in the evening, while a jazz trio steps up to entertain the crowds who drop in for leisurely Sunday lunches. Drinks-wise,
expect prime pickings lifted from the restaurant’s superlative wine list, plus a good showing of martinis and other classic cocktails.
