It may be turning 20 this year, but The Lansdowne is still one of the coolest pubs in the area. You’ll often find the Primrose Hill elite (Jude, Sienna, Kate, et al) sipping summertime pints at its
pavement tables. Even without celebs, a ridiculously trendy bunch of drinkers fills the cosy, woody frayed-at-the-edges interior, but thankfully pretension is kept in check & there’s generally
a friendly vibe. Swoonsome bar staff pour glasses of crisp Viognier, pints of Bombardier & G&Ts, while the kitchen works hard churning out gourmet pizzas (try the left-field Turkish topping
of spiced lamb, feta & pine nuts), plus Med-style dishes from a big chalked-up menu. Expect creamy risottos, slow-cooked pork belly, braised lamb or roast cod embellished with seasonal veg.
Both food & service are prone to the odd wobble, but The Lansdowne remains a lively, fun, if rather noisy, treat.
