Handily located close to Brighton station in the North Laine, La Choza's kitsch take on Mexican street food has proved wildly popular with bohemian Brighton. The tiny dining room is a riot of
colour with pink, yellow and blue walls clashing with garish floral banquettes and displays of Mexican curios ranging from psychedelic wrestling masks to macabre skulls. Kick things off with
puffed-up pork scratchings (chicharrones) and a frozen margarita, before getting to grips with the three-step menu, which involves choosing a base, filling and salsa to create your own dish – try
the burrito packed with home-smoked pulled pork and chipotle salsa, but don’t be surprised if you feel stuffed afterwards. Rock-bottom prices mean the cosy space is invariably packed at every
sitting – so be prepared to wait for your table (they don’t take bookings).
