Square Meal Review of Kua'aina ?

Burgers come with a welcoming ‘aloha’ at this Soho offshoot of a long-running Hawaiian eatery on the island’s North Shore – a favourite of President Obama, apparently. Pronounced ‘koo-a eye-na’, Kua’aina honours its hula original with a bamboo roof, tropical ceiling fans and authentic Dick Brewer surfboards, while the food is based on signature recipes and marinades. Burger riffs involve pineapple (naturally), avocado and Ortega chillis as well as the usual bacon and cheese, but the venue is equally famous for its char-grilled sandwiches – perhaps teriyaki chicken breast, roast turkey or peppered pastrami with grilled peppers. Various salads add to the choice, and US-themed desserts span everything from high-calorie pancakes with maple syrup to low-fat frozen yoghurts.

    Nomface :: Kua Aina

    There’s definately no shortage of burger joints in London. Burgaffair :: Kua ‘Aina

    They often call Fouberts Place just off Carnaby street the Hawaii of Oxford Circus. Honestly, I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s because of this Hawaiian themed burger joint? Or maybe I just made it up. Who knows? Hawaii themed bingo ensues: the shirts (check), surfboard (check), lei (check), ukele (check) ...

    Vi Vian :: Kua’Aina, Foubert’s Place

    Kua ‘Aina, Foubert’s Place – this is a rather good find when you need time away from a shopping spree on Carnaby Street. With so many of the fast food/sandwich/cafe chains within a stone’s throw from one and another, it was very easy just to give in to any of them and just to end the search of anything else. It was safe and fairly reliable. Out or our norm for the sandwiches or sushi lunches, we decided to be adventurous when we found Kua ‘Aina...
