The name is a conjunction of two Turkish words, ‘haz’ (enjoyment) and ‘ev’ (home), which just about nails the all-round appeal of this highly successful venue on Canary Wharf’s dining epicentre.
Set up by the founder of the Tas chain, Hazev has carved out a reputation for fresh, flavour-packed food at affordable prices, and it covers pretty much any base you could think of: the
light-flooded café/deli opens early for pastries and coffee, and is still doing business after work – so you can pick up something for a lazy sofa dinner. Meanwhile, the smarter restaurant offers
hot and cold mezze, grills, casseroles and a quartet of set menus designed to take the indecision out of ordering. Head to the noisy, clubby ‘disco’ bar in the evening for cocktails and shots (jam
doughnut in a glass, anyone?).
