Usefully pitched on Bristol’s boutiquey Park Street, this bar & restaurant is a smart conversion of two Georgian houses & a Victorian bread factory, with many original features still
intact. The ground-floor café is handy for corporate meetings & late breakfasts amid high gold-leaf ceilings, ornate mirrors & a motley selection of framed pictures. By contrast, the
upstairs reveals a library (all aubergine walls & stylishly worn leather armchairs) & a maze of rooms that can be hired out for private events & special bashes. The dining room deals in
mainstream European food (think venison tartare with celeriac rémoulade, braised pork belly with wholegrain mustard mash & cider sauce, or ‘deconstructed’ fish pie) served in a setting of
starched tablecloths, porcelain chandeliers & pretty wallpaper. Dishes from the restaurant menu can be ordered in any of the private rooms, as well as the summertime terrace.
