Opened by an ex-Vegas showgirl back in 1995, this family-run restaurant borrows from New England for its beach-chic decor (think distressed white wood and deckchair-stripe curtained booths) –
although the food has all the hallmarks of California’s cherry-picking cuisine, dipping into east and west to garner whatever takes its fancy. Handmade tortellini and duck confit sit alongside crab
samosas, tandoori swordfish or chicken-breast teriyaki with cold hikari rice, and there’s a sizeable list of international wines to accompany a civilised business lunch. Drop by in the evening,
however, and you may have trouble hearing your dinner companion – the bar is popular for post-work bowls of calamari fritti and Cajun fries with Cheddar as drinkers down bottles of bubbles and
potent hits from the short but sassy selection of party-hard shooters.
