The years roll on, but this ‘upmarket tapas kitchen’ with add-ons still feels like a Shoreditch secret – and regulars hope it will stay that way. There’s nothing here to rock your world, but fans
are quick to laud the ‘excellent service’ and David Eyre’s ‘exceptionally tasty food’. The smart, classy dining room attracts a well-dressed crowd, who pile in for first-rate tapas – don’t expect
weird combos, but do expect superior plates of Padrón peppers, grilled chorizo, ‘golden’ tortilla or sheep’s cheese with walnut toast. If something more substantial is required, go for the
flavour-filled Galician-style octopus, grilled lamb leg with braised peas and potatoes or whopping Mozambique tiger prawns piri-piri. Meanwhile, desserts keep it Spanish – check out ‘the fat of
heaven’, a thick custard served with strawberries. The cracking Iberian wine list is chock-full of possibilities, especially in the sherry department.
