The latest venture from ever-creative Alan Yau (founder of Wagamama, Busaba Eathai, Hakkasan etc) sees him dipping
his chopsticks into the world of gastropubs, following his takeover of The Endurance on Berwick Street. Situated just a dumpling’s throw from his former dim sum palace Yauatcha, this well-loved Soho boozer is being transformed into Duck & Rice – a new venue that is set to offer Chinese
street food and Asian cocktails in a completely revamped setting. It sounds pretty cool and innovative, with a ground-floor bar in what was the original pub and a new upstairs area given over to a
restaurant – although there will be loads of counter space too. A couple of private rooms and alfresco seating are also promised. More details to follow.
Blanch and Shock is a trio who have been cooking and catering for over four year and recently as part of the food spectrum initiative, they have been given a temporary residency at The Endurance, Berwick Street, Soho. Using only the best seasonal ingredients often sourced from small scale producer and sustainable source, the menu changes regularly according to the availability of the produce. After hearing good things about them from a friend, I've decided to pay them a visit with the very same friend as my lunching companion...
