The splendid-looking Georgian property has a slick rustic-chic finish these days, with colours chosen from the Farrow & Ball palette, dark wood tables, nary a carpet in sight and a serious
approach to food and drink – all tailor-made for the good folk of Barnsbury. Downstairs is where the pub action takes place, with excellent real ales and plenty of space for The Drapers to function
as a local tavern; upstairs is for those who want to eat amid a little more sophistication in a room with gorgeous Georgian windows. The menu follows the theme of rustic refinement with British
flavours you don’t see every day – perhaps grouse and prune pie, grilled squid with kohlrabi and green sauce, or slow-roast pork belly with lentils and black cabbage, followed by patriotic puds and
Neal’s Yard cheeses.
