I first made my way down to Dip & Flip just after it opened about a year ago and it seemed high time for a return visit. Check out my earlier thoughts here. The menu has grown a little bit to include a green chilli cheeseburger as well as a bacon cheeseburger plus I heard they’d tweaked the gravy from what was previously on offer. The layout was just as I remembered – fairly Spartan but yet surprisingly comfortable and the open play nature makes the most of the space. The staff are quick to greet you when you walk and perfectly manage the balance between being helpful and being invisible...

Ever heard of a French dip? And no, not the salad dressing type. It's a much meatier, calorific affair. And it's recently come to Clapham, under the name of Dip & Flip. An American invention (of course) which plays on the idea of serving you a hot sandwich/bun filled with an arrays of items - classically being beef slices and cheese. You're then faced with the even tougher choice of how much you want it 'dipped'. The dipping process involves the inside of the bun being dipped in to either one dunks worth of meat juices from the cooked beef, or double dunked for a more saturated, completely unhealthy sandwich. This is this kind of food that's making the nation obese, so I'll just have to jump on the waggon and get fat, because all this 'unhealthy' food is too good, to ignore...

Double-dipped? What are you talking about?George Costanza (Seinfeld episode âThe Implantâ)A couple weeks back I was looking for a burger, then I remembered about Dip & Flip in Clapham. All the reviews I saw so far where good so I was quite keen to go visit. The place has an alternative décor, chairs with names, tom petty and the stones on the speakers, big murals of a gravy train, and a lady on a cocktail holding a burger complete the scene.MenuA couple sandwiches to dip, and to flip five burgers including their special. I went for the Dip & Flip burger giving you a bit of both worlds. Brioche toasted bun, melted American cheese, and topped with roast beef and dripping gravy.Burger timeVerdict, Really nice burger, perfectly cooked medium rare, the beef with gravy is a nice additionDamage, 9.95 quid for the Dip & Flip burgerConclusion, I really liked the burger, has a nice balance, good flavours, and they even get you a gravy bowl so you can dip and double dip your burger. Fries were crispy, quite good. I will give the Dip & Flip team a 9, quite good place if you end up in Clapham.Dip & FlipT: 012 345 6789Burger JointApprox Damage: £15ppArea: ClaphamBorough: WandsworthTwitter: DipFlippo
