Appropriately located on Tanner Street, slap-bang in the middle of Bermondsey’s former leather district, this Argentinian steakhouse celebrates all things beefy – would-be gauchos come here to
feast on prime cuts sizzled on a red-hot parrilla grill that forms the centrepiece of the restaurant. There are spinach- and corn-stuffed empanadas to start, along with provolone cheese molten from
the grill, followed by top-drawer pampas-reared steaks or slabs of Ibérico pork. However, it pays to go for broke with one of Constancia’s mighty mixed parrilladas – steak, chorizo sausage and
crumbly black pudding, topped up with generous sides of pesto-smothered portobello mushrooms and chunky garlic-and-parsley chips. Desserts range from zingy lemon sorbet to a downright decadent
chocolate brownie with dulce de leche, and there are plenty of big-hitting Argentinian reds in the cellar.
We’re back at Constancia Argentine grill for the gazillionth visit. Just can’t stay away. Don’t quite know what it is, but this place gives me serious meat cravings. I never can seem to stay away for too long or the cravings come over me again...
