Square Meal Review of Ceviche ?

‘Wonderful pisco sours and divine ceviche’sums up the two-pronged appeal of this high-octane venue – a combination of a fast-paced bar and a clamouring dining room filled with old mirrors, whirling fans, bright posters and South American artefacts. Real-deal takes on the eponymous marinated fish ‘get the taste buds dancing’, while other must-try dishes from the constantly tweaked menu range from invigorating quinoa salad and causa pecado (a smooth potato cake topped with creamy coley, avocado and coriander) to specials such as juicy marinated alpaca skewers with purple potatoes. The drinks list also rings the changes, with more than 12 pisco infusions offering ‘perfectly constructed’ variations on the traditional recipe, including a heady mix of lavender, blueberries and wild nettle. Expect an elbow-to-elbow riot at peak times, although Ceviche’s vibrant charm, enthusiastic staff and ‘incredible flavours’ always win the day.

    Brunch etc. :: Ceviche @ FEAST

    I've heard a lot of good things about Ceviche (the hot new Peruvian restaurant which opened in Soho earlier this year), so I was pretty excited to see their name on the list of restaurants at last weekend's FEAST event.

    The FEAST venue - a derelict Royal Mail building in Angel - was incredibly atmospheric: packed with food stalls (and with Christmas trees and lanterns lending a festive vibe), the place was thronged with happy foodies, wrapped up tight against the cold and tucking into steaming plates of everything from mac and cheese to cassoulet...

    SilverSpoon London :: Saturday Soho Lunch Club - Ceviche

    After trying Andina earlier in the month, I had reignited my love for Peruvian food and I really wanted to revisit the sister restaurant, Ceviche. As Mr Silver was yet to try Martin Morales' first London outpost it seemed the perfect venue for my next Saturday Soho Lunch Club.

    I mentioned a little about Martin Morales' background in my Andina blog which you can read here. Morales started with a supper club and a series of pop-up restaurants, he spread the word through twitter and his temporary venues proved so popular that he gathered a team together to open his first restaurant, Ceviche...

    Food I Fancy :: Restaurant Review: Ceviche

    Ceviche, the restaurant, is the brainchild of half-Peruvian, ex DJ, Martin Morales. Inside it’s got that cool Soho vibe with dark wooden floors and dark wooded tables with bright contrasting walls dotted with a few pieces of Peruvian art posters. It actually felt more like a low-key French bistro rather than anything I’d visited on my travels – but nonetheless, it fits in nicely with the trendy surroundings...

    S Marks The Spots :: CEVICHE

    London is a true melting pot of cultures. With countless dining options available, a foodie can travel all around the world. This time I got to experience a little piece of Peru by trying out Ceviche, a Peruvian restaurant in the heart of Soho ran by Martin Morales and chef Alejandro Bello.

    After its opening Ceviche became quickly the talk of the town. I was really excited to try Peruvian cuisine for the very first time and see for myself whether this place would live up to its reputation! First of all, if you consider going there make sure you reserve a table in advance. When my partner in crime and I arrived...

    Fd Over LDN :: Pisco Fever

    Spearheading the new wave of Peruvian food in Central London, Ceviche has taken up its spot in the newly invigorated (some would say gentrified) Dean and Frith Street in Soho. Every week there seems to be a new batch of mid-range venues being added as opposed to the traditionally pricier restaurants that have opened in the past 5 years. Always one of the most open-minded of areas in London, it's good to see some interesting new cuisines appearing in this dynamic quarter. Within South America, Peru has a reputation for being very much a foodie country, combining many different kinds of starchy vegetables (including...

    Cooksister :: Review of Ceviche restaurant

    Martin Morales was born in Peru, has lived in Mexico City and Barcelona and now lives in London with his wife and children - and has had a life-long love affair with Peruvian food. When he realised that food was what he wanted to do with the rest of his life, he quit his job and started small with a Peruvian supperclub at his home, followed by a few pop-up restaurants, and then finally in February 2012, Ceviche, a Peruvian restaurant and London’s first pisco bar, opened its doors in Soho. Peruvian cuisine has a rich history – as Martin puts it: “500 years of fusion food”. The roots obviously lie in indigenous...

    Munch My Way :: Ceviche, Soho

    I heard of ceviche, the Peruvian dish for a long time through various forms of another…
    Ceviche is seafood dish, using fresh seafood such as seabass, scallops etc a staple of Peruvian cuisine… For me, one of the best is at Ceviche in central Soho..

    samphire and salsify :: Ceviche

    Ceviche has taken Soho by storm. Whenever we walk past this Peruvian restaurant on Frith street it’s always packed. We took advantage of the Olympic fever and went on the weekend of the Opening Ceremony and it was empty – along with every other restaurant in Soho...

    Ross eats :: Ceviche

    I’m always on the look out for something new so when I heard of a Peruvian restaurant and ceviche/pisco bar in Soho it was somewhere I knew I would have to go to. With a menu split into sections – ceviche, salads, grills and classics (though don’t worry there is no cuy on the menu) and desserts there is plenty on offer for the hungry and plenty of interesting sounding ingredients to go around for the inquisitive but for me unfortunately it was a meal of ups and downs and, this morning one huge revelation...

    HungryinLondon :: CEVICHE (Soho)

    I love ceviche but no, I didn’t like Ceviche.  Ceviche, a recently opened Peruvian restaurant in Soho, is the new darling of the London foodie scene, equally loved by food bloggers and food critics.  Peruvian cuisine is predicted to be the new food trend of 2012 (as suggested in Huffington Post and The Telegraph) and apart from Ceviche, 2 more Peruvian restaurants are to open in London in the coming months.

    London Stuff :: Ceviche - Frith St W1

    I was (as I often am these days) late to the party with Ceviche but had been aware of the buzz and was really keen to check it out.  Another common failing of mine (wow I'm really beating myself up this post) is going somewhere I plan to blog about and then leaving it so long that I have forgotten what I ate and what I wanted to say about it.  That is the case with Ceviche but luckily I took some good photos and also I liked it so much that the glow is still with me.  It was a fun lunch, with my friends Lucas and Kylie, so even though it was mid week we got stuck in to the Pisco Sours, which were mighty fine...

  1. On Monday Ms Monkfish was lucky enough to catch the ‘Ceviche ‘pop-up’ restaurant tour’ as it pulled into Edinburgh and stopped off at Mark Greenaway’s restaurant at the end of a ten date UK wide masterclass tour. Ceviche is Soho’s finest Peruvian kitchen and Pisco Bar serving up the freshest fish, super salads, the best limes and chilli’s with kicks that kick like you’ve never been kicked before! To top it off they’ve sourced the coolest 1960′s Peruvian tracks to accompany your restaurant experience and have set up their own record label to release the tracks...

    The Hungry Beard :: Ceviche

    Don’t be fooled by the name, there’s much more than ceviche in this fantastic Peruvian restaurant in Frith St. The menu is composed by several dishes to share, from classic Peruvian recipes to more experimental efforts. The portions are supposed to be small but some of them were bigger than I expected. In fact, they suggested 3 or 4 plates per person and we ended up ordering more food than we could possibly eat. The good news is that we could try a lot of the extraordinary options from their menu. The ceviches were, without a doubt, my favourite part, especially the Sakura, which was refreshing and incredibly tasty....

    Saying it straight :: Ceviche. Lots of new words.

    So we ordered Yucas, which is fried cassava, with a Huancaina sauce (pronounced wan-kay-eena, naturally) and which is a cheese onion and chili combination. The cassava could have passed very easily for roasted parsnip and £3 this was not going to break the bank altough it would be a good alcohol-sponge. I very much liked the Cancha, which was just simply crunchy roasted Peruvian corn. And then what is billed as ”beetroot salad,, coriander smooth cool Peruvian potato cake”. I’m surprised at this description, as I look at it now, because it tasted very much like avocado, rather than potato...
