full. The crowds are drawn here by chef-proprietor Craig James’s easy, generous cooking – a succulent starter of scallops with black pudding; classic, briny-fresh grilled lemon sole with pea-shoot
salad; a hearty confit duck leg with a light mustard sauce; & great, professional service. Look out for clever marketing ploys of pre-book-only set menus: on Monday to Wednesday, six ‘taster
courses’ cost just £6 in total; and you can accompany these with five 75ml glasses of wine for just an extra £12 – remarkable value.
