Follow your nose and the crowds to this little slice of lunchtime Sicily, and don’t be put off by the queues: most of the punters who cram around tightly packed tables are Italians, because the
food here is the real deal. Cheerful counter staff serve up slices of freshly made pizzas, authentic Italian sandwiches and intriguing morsels such as cone-shaped Sicilian arancini (deep-fried rice
balls filled with cheese and peas) on rustic wooden boards. Whilst low prices and disposable ‘balsa’ cutlery give this tiny café a cheap but cheerful air, there’s no skimping on quality: coffee is
perfectly brewed and homemade delicacies including rich but light tiramisu are hard to resist. It’s pretty frantic, but this is undoubtedly one of the best places in Cambridge for a modest fill-up,
whether you eat in or take away.
