Taylor’s 10 Year Old Tawny

A glass of chilled tawny port is lovely in the summer. If you’re unfamiliar with tawnies, they are slightly different to LBV and vintage ports, but are equally delicious. The name comes from the ‘tawny’ hue that the port develops as it ages slowly in barrel, losing the more traditional ‘ruby’ colour. At the same time, tawnies develop lovely spicy, nutty aromas. Delicious when matched with hard, nutty cheese, tarte Tatin, or crème brûlée. £23/70cl; Sainsbury’s, Waitrose

Nespresso Lattissima+ machine (pictured right) Nespresso.jpg

For dads who love coffee but don’t want to spend hours making it, the Lattissima+ machine from Nespresso is ideal. Ready to use in less than one minute, the machine serves up espressos, cappuccinos and lattes at the touch of a button thanks to its ‘one-touch’ system that creates creamy, velvety milk froth. We also like the fact that it can accommodate cups of all sizes, thanks to its sliding drip tray. £249/selfridges.com

Cardhu single-malt whisky

Cardhu is the Speyside distillery best known as the home of the famous Johnnie Walker blend, but its own single malt is well worth a look, too, particularly with this new glass pack. Cardhu’s signature style, the 12 Year Old, is a classic Speyside malt, delivering delicate floral, honeyed aromas, and on the palate, you’ll find hints of spice, along with a pleasing richness. The pack contains a 70cl bottle of the 12 Year Old, along with a glass specially shaped to maximise the aromas. £36.95/70cl; thewhiskyexchange.com

Langley’s No. 8 gin

There’s a definite Bond theme to this new gin from Langley’s No.8, aimed at ‘the discerning gentleman’, even down to the casino chip-style lid. The number refers to the eight botanicals used in the recipe, which includes orange and lemon peel from Spain, and Sri Lankan nutmeg. This is a bold gin, with assertive juniper notes, so best used for a punchy G&T, or in a cocktail where you want the gin flavour right to the fore. £30/70cl; thedrinkshop.com

Big Green Egg barbecue

Dads love a barbecue, and this incredibly stylish example will grace any garden. Big Green Egg is available in five sizes, from Mini to Extra Large, and all are made with rust-free ceramic and an enamel coating. They’re a doddle to use, and one load of charcoal will stay burning for up to 12 hours, so you’ll have plenty of time to feed your hungry hordes. £399-1200; biggreenegg.co.uk

Freaker_beer_holder.jpgPommery Summertime Champagne

Father’s Day is the perfect excuse to crack open the fizz, and this seasonal offering from Pommery is ideal. A Blanc de Blancs Champagne (made with 100% Chardonnay), Pommery Summertime is fresh and invigorating, with hints of acacia and lime, and lovely floral notes. Serve as a pre-lunch treat, or match it with light fish or salad dishes. £47/75cl; amathusdrinks.com
