Chef Tom
Aikens (pictured, right) will launch a new restaurant in Putney later this year, called Kitchenette.
Aikens currently runs his self-titled Chelsea flagship as well as three branches of his laid-back British
restaurant Tom’s Kitchen – at Somerset House, Canary Wharf and in Chelsea.
Kitchenette will take the place of the former Fish & Grill site, on Putney Bridge Road, and have the same relaxed vibe as Tom’s Kitchen, with Mediterranean and European dishes such as seafood
linguine or steak au poivre as menu staples. Prices, however, will be lower than those at Tom’s Kitchen.
The Kitchenette brand was established by Aikens’ business partners London Doors, and has already proved successful in four Turkish cities, as well as Moscow and Baku. The London branch is the only
one that Aikens is involved in.
Building work is currently ongoing at the site, with the restaurant expected to open in September.

Story update (August 2013): Tom Aikens will no longer be overseeing the menu at Kitchenette, and his involvement will be less than originally anticipated. He will mainly concentrate on
his own restaurants, but will act as executive chef at Kitchenette.
