The Clove Club to open in Shoreditch Town Hall next February

Chef about town Isaac McHale (one half of the Young Turks chef collective) and Daniel Willis and Johnny Smith (who ran private dining club The Clove Club), are to open a two-room restaurant and bar, also to be called The Clove Club.

The dining room will serve a five-course set menu of seasonal modern-British food, featuring signature dishes from The Ten Bells residency, including McHale’s buttermilk chicken with pine salt, and razor clams baked in hay. A separate bar menu of small plates will be available in the 40-seat bar. As with The Ten Bells, McHale will run the kitchen while Willis and Smith will oversee front-of-house service.

The restaurant, which has been partially funded by crowdsourcing, will be part of the regeneration of the Grade II-listed Shoreditch Town Hall building, which will also include a theatre and multi-purpose arts space.

In September, McHale told Square Meal he was looking forward to tackling this new challenge. ‘We’re excited finally to be doing this restaurant,’ he said. ‘We want to make Shoreditch a great place to eat.’
