L’Enclume’s Simon Rogan has announced he will open two restaurants in Manchester next year – both in
the city’s Midland hotel.
The prestigious hotel, established in 1903, comprises two restaurants: The French, its flagship fine-dining venue and one of the first restaurants in the UK to be awarded a Michelin star; and
Colony, a more casual 150-seat brasserie that will be renamed by Rogan when it relaunches. The French will serve L’Enclume-style food, while the menu at the brasserie will be broader in style.
The hotel is undergoing a large-scale refurbishment before its restaurants reopen under Rogan’s management – The French in February, and the second in May.
‘I have always loved Manchester – it’s like being in London, but on a smaller scale,’ said Rogan. ‘This is a great opportunity to set the trend for luxury dining on the Manchester scene, and the
city is definitely ready for it.’
Rogan and his team are set for a busy 2013. In addition to the two new Manchester venues, the chef and restaurateur will relocate and relaunch his London restaurant, Roganic, on an
as-yet-undisclosed site.
