Restaurants to look out for in autumn

cut interior - CUT_at_45_Park_Lane_(HIGH_RES_-_LANDSCAPE_-_CGI).jpgSeptember means back to school, and not just for pupils: restaurant launches will be back in full swing from tomorrow, with the opening of Wolfgang Puck’s Cut at 45 Park Lane (pictured, right). After that, hold onto your hats, as big-ticket restaurants will be coming to London thick and fast. Here’s a selection of the biggest upcoming openings in London this autumn.

34

Due to open in November, 34 will offer diners glitzy surroundings in which to indulge in some high-end carnivorous activity. The Grosvenor Square location, Martin Brudnizki design and variety of grills look set to create a stir for this latest addition to the Caprice Holdings stable.

Aurelia

Restaurateur Arjun Waney and ex-Roka head chef Rosie Yeats will team up for this colourful take on the cuisine of the southern Mediterranean, which follows the ancient Via Aurelia, a road that stretched from Rome to Valencia. It’s due to open in September.

Gordon Ramsay has finally set a date for his long-awaited City opening in the One New Change complex. 26 September will see the doors to this New York deli offering flung open: expect home-cured charcuterie, a ‘raw’ bar, and some punchy grilled dishes from head chef Stuart Gillies.

The Dorchester Collection’s new boutique hotel is the setting for Wolfgang Puck’s steak restaurant, a London outpost of the high-end American chain. The chef insists that the food will be about simplicity and quality, with the surroundings providing a touch of luxe. The restaurant opens on 1 September.

Hawksmoor Guildhall

Another steak restaurant – and a hat-trick from the wildly successful Hawksmoor mini-chain – will open in October. This branch will target City slickers, but it will offer the same winning formula as the Seven Dials and Spitalfields outposts: cracking cocktails, well-hung steaks and spot-on burgers.

Spanish chef José Pizarro (pictured, right) is colonising Bermondsey Street one restaurant at a time. His first solo foray into the London restaurant scene came earlier in 2011 with his eponymous tapas and sherry bar, José. This time, he’s launching a full-blown restaurant just down the road, and the wine list will feature a stunning selection of cavas.

Soif

Terroirs and Brawn are huge successes, so it was only a matter of time before Ed Wilson and his team launched a third version of the ‘small plates, big wines’ concept. The latest offering will hit Battersea Rise in October, so look forward to some seasonal autumn dishes and warming organic reds.
