Tamarind Collection, the group behind
Mayfair’s Michelin-starred Indian restaurant Tamarind and Soho’s Imli Street are to open a new London venue in March 2014. One Kensington, located on Kensington High Street, will be an
all-day restaurant, bar and social space which is similar in style to London’s private members’ clubs, but will be fully open to the public, with no membership required.
One Kensington will serve breakfasts, lunches, afternoon teas and dinners, while a bar area and dedicated Champagne table will overlook Kensington Palace Gardens. Tamarind’s executive chef Alfred
Prasad has been involved in creating menus, but the cuisine will be modern European rather than Indian; more details of the food offering are to be revealed in January.
The venue will take on the impressive late-Gothic revival Victorian building that currently holds Indian restaurant Zaika of Kensington, which closes for good on 22 December. The One Kensington design team have said they will
