Hartnett thinks big

angela hartnett flipped 2013 - Angela-Hartnett_new-08b_resized_flipped.jpgAngela Hartnett has been busy this year, adding Hampshire hotel restaurant Hartnett Holder & Co and Shoreditch collaboration Merchant’s Tavern to her portfolio, as well as continuing to run her flagship restaurant, Murano.

In November, the chef will take on another venture, Café Murano, at 33 St James’s Street – the former Pétrus site where she worked her way up from sous chef to head chef in just seven months.

‘It’s a thrilling prospect to return and open a restaurant in the very same site where I trained at the beginning of my career,’ she said when the news was announced.

However, Hartnett will certainly make her own mark on the site, transforming the space into a modern Italian serving mainly pasta dishes from the north of the country, plus a daily-changing ice-cream menu. The dining room will also feature a 12-seater bar serving cocktails, aperitivi and antipasti.

‘Café Murano will offer regionally focused dishes at accessible prices in an informal atmosphere,’ said the chef. ‘I wanted to create the kind of restaurant I would enjoy eating in every day.’
