Covent Garden’s revamped J Sheekey Oyster Bar goes large

J Sheekey Oyster Bar - J_Sheekey_Oyster_Bar_2008_-_Full_bar.jpgJ Sheekey Oyster Bar, the younger sibling of celeb haunt and stalwart of the London scene J Sheekey, is undergoing a refurbishment that will almost double the restaurant’s capacity.

The dining room of the St Martin’s Court restaurant, which opened in November 2008, has been extended to accommodate an additional nine tables, plus a chef’s table; the bar, meanwhile, will now seat up to 21.

The Oyster Bar’s open kitchen has also been expanded and will continue to serve seasonal dishes alongside well-loved institutions such as smoked-haddock rarebit and the house fish pie. Winewise, cellar master Richard Rotti has refined the list, adding new and eclectic Champagne and wine styles, many available by the glass.

The refurbished restaurant will open to the public on 15 October.
