The Switch House wing at Tate Modern opened last week and as the weather’s leaning towards abysmal, we couldn't think of a better place to indulge in the Great British indoors this weekend. We’ve compiled a list of the best restaurants in the South Bank, to fuel a busy day of nodding and chin-stroking.
Art critic Adrian Searle said the gallery’s new wing was a place where “supersized sculpture, live performance and piles of goo get the airing they deserve” and one can’t argue with that. The twisted, pyramid shape of the Switch House is a beautiful addition to London’s skyline and you can take advantage by going all the way up to Level 10 (nearly as tall as the chimney of the existing Tate Modern building) to enjoy the roof terrace with 360-degree views of the capital (though an umbrella may be in order).
Level nine of the Switch House has its own restaurant (above), but if you fancy exploring the local area instead, check out our pick of the South Bank and Shad Thames area here.
