THE EVENT: South Bank Sky Arts Awards 2012, hosted by Melvyn
THE VENUE: The Dorchester.
THE FOOD: pick of the season’s vegetable terrine with home-made piccalilli served with a standing salad garnish; loin of lamb en croute with spring vegetables, pomme fondant and olive jus;
coffee with petit fours.
TO DRINK: a light prosecco before lunch, followed by a Chilean sauvignon blanc paired with the terrine and a Chilean malbec for the lamb.
THE ENTERTAINMENT: trumpeter Alison Balsom, American tenor Noah Stewart and jazz singer Gregory Porter.
WE LOVED: Rob Brydon’s impression of Tom Jones, which involved lots of well-timed throat clearing.
