 | Kaprow( 30s, Female, London )Hi Victoria, Who are your usual caterers? I really rate deWintons – they do some really innovative stuff without skimping on the quality of ingredients: Dewintons Nomad are probably the most ‘out there’ of the London lot: nomadlondon.co.uk Or you could try the catering arm of the restaurant group behind The Ivy: Urban Caprice A lot of restaurants are getting into catering so you could also check if one of your favourite restaurants would help out. Good luck! Would love to hear how you get on with the tastings!

 | Kim H.( 30s, Female, London )Hello! SO strange you are asking about outside catering as I have also been looking for caterers to handle a 40 person Easter lunch for my boss. I contacted the usual people like Admiral Crichton and Mustard but have to say their service/customer skills were a bit lacking and the food seemed somehow uninspiring. My boss wanted something with a real wow factor and I thought a cold poached salmon and seared lamb chops were too boring and samey. Nomad as the person above has suggested are BRILLIANT. It is just mind-boggling how they create some of their visual aspects to the food and we've used them twice for big corporate events. However, they aren't normal caterers and their style is really only suitable for big corporates as it's just so expensive to have all that designed food. It's also mainly canape based so if you are looking for sit down food, they are not the people to go to. In the end I contacted some of my personal favourite restaurants and discovered that one of them (Penny Black) could do the outside catering for me. Their food is really out of this world and they took much more interest in our needs than any of the other mainstream caterers. The menu they've suggested is mouth-watering – starters of either crab salad, pig's head terrine or courgette stuffed onion (which is just amazing). For mains they have organised an outdoor barbecue station and are providing a whole hog roast, individual cote de beouf, or baked halibut. It's the sort of food that you would get in their restaurant but served outside. It isn't cheap but you get what you pay for. They are sending some of their restaurant staff to work our event and based on what I've seen of them in the restaurant, I've never had service as good as what they provide. I don't know where you are based (I'm in London), but it would be worth contacting some of your favourite restaurants to see if they can help you. Most of them will not, but you may get lucky and find a true gem.

Posts: 1 | Luci D.( 30s, Female, United Kingdom )Eventuate (eventuate.org) are a great company and they are so creative. They do a lot of work in London for some big names and have worked for me many times (at big corporate company, Financial Services). They are based outside London so their prices are good. They do quite a lot of parties so get a chance to be really creative so I am sure they will have lots of ideas for you. The food at the the-recipe.co.uk is also very good and David is so passionate about what they do. Hope that helps.
