Top London Venues

(menu)
Simon M.

Hi Guys

I have just compiled my own list of London's top 10 party venues, what do you think?

My top 10 London Venues

1. Natural History Museum

How anyone can argue with The NHM as London’s No 1 event venue is beyond me. A real ‘Landmark’ space, party under the dinosaur, in the stunning Earth Galleries, and now even have a BBQ alongside the Darwin Centre. nhm.ac.uk/business-centre/exclusive-events/index.html

2. Madame Tussauds

A really fantastic party venue, where else can you party with Michael Jackson, The Beatles and Sadam Hussein? Michael and his team really understand how to have a party, which is proven by their fantastic industry events!

3. Kensington Roof Gardens

For a London club to have been open for as long as the Roof Gardens, it must have something special, and Kensington Roof Gardens does, three stunning themed gardens, pink flamingos and a fantastic restaurant. I wouldn’t bet against this one still being here in another 30 years.

4. One Marylebone

New to the event scene, One Marylebone, is a beautiful venue, in a fantastic location near London’s West End. For a small to medium sized elegant dinner, you’ll find One Marylebone hard to beat.

5. Old Billingsgate

If you are after a BIG City venue, then there is only really one option. Billingsgates, size, location and flexibility make it the No 1 choice for large City parties and awards dinners.

6. The HC

We have run this venue at Christmas for over 6 years now, its elegance and upmarket location make it, in my mind, the best party venue in London for small dinner dances.

7. Café de Paris

See Kensington Roof Gardens. For a London club to still be open after so long, it must be good. For the sheer elegance and history of the venue, Café de Paris will always be in my top ten London venues.

8. The Hurlingham Club

If you are not on the 7 year waiting list for membership, the only way in to this fantastic Country Club is to hold an event. Home of the annual Salon Prive, The Hurlingham Club is perfect for a sophisticated summer soiree.

9. Vinopolis

Vinopolis is another City giant, located a stones through from London Bridge, it has several flexible and unique spaces in which to hold your event. Thrown in the mix that as wine exhibition it houses more alcohol than a brewery, and you’ll get why I like it!

10. Graphic Bar

Purely because it is my favourite West End bar, Graphic Bar makes the list, its décor (re designed every three months by an up and coming artist) and its sublime cocktails, make it my watering hole of choice…

Hi Simon,

What a great idea! I totally agree with your top three. You can't argue with the NHM museum being the best party venue in town. The Darwin Centre it launched last autumn is really something special. Perfect for summer-time events with its piazza.

I'd have Vinopolis a bit further up the list, to be honest. With its versatility and range of spaces, I think it should be pushing for the top spot.

The only thing i think your list is missing is a real old stalwart, a venue with bags of character and real heritage. I'd say somewhere like The Law Society, Gibson Hall or on of the livery companies' halls.

Simon, this list is fantastic!

I agree with almost all of your entries but none of your top 10 cater for the East side of London. I think East Wintergarden is one of my top 10 venues, with the glass building providing plenty of natural daylight. It is the best venue for those of us located nearer the Isle of Dogs.

Also the Royal Albert Hall would be in my top 10, not only for the History but also flexibility, from showcasing circus acrobats to music and tennis legends, this is definitely in my top 3!

The Hurlingham Club is a good one too. There is nothing like a quintissentially English club, with superb grounds so close to the centre of town.

Good work!

Interesting choices!

NHM super venue and yes Vinopolis is great but I do love the grandeur of the old palaces, Tower of London, Hampton Court etc.. there is something very special about having an event in a really old building with so much history so I would put one of them in the top ten.
I would probably also put The Wellington Arch in the list somewhere too, ok it is small but excellent wow factor for clients.
One Marylebone absolutely agree, Madame Tussauds I find the wax people thing a bit creepy.

Good work though! I could never decide on a top ten, far too many choices!!

Hi Simon,

Totally agree with the top 3 although i'd say the Hurlingham could come a bit higher.

Not sure that Graphic Bar could be ranked in the top ten though…there are masses of fabulous West End bars and whilst I agree it is a really good space, as those kind of venues go in that area you can't go wrong with bars like Floridita, Soho House, Kettners, The Parlour at Sketch etc…?

Simon I found your list and the subsequent comments really useful. I don't know how often you work outside London but I would love to know your list of Top 10 Venues accross the UK.

I agree this is a great list & I think the almost all the venues you've listed (not familiar with Graphic Bar) would boost the acceptance rate. I'd add 40/30 & Sketch to the list for any time & the Roof Garden at Cannon Bridge for a summer party.

What about Altidute? Everyone seems to be talking about that at the moment.
