 | Charlie F.( 30s, Male, United Kingdom )I was lucky enough to stumble across a tequila tasting event at Shoreditch's Green & Red last night. I had no idea that so many different types of tequila existed, let alone the amount that they vary in quality! Stef Oghene – one of the most celebrated bar tenders in town – is really trying to push tequila (and so he should, he's the brand ambassador for Cazadores) and get it onto the drinks lists of some of the top restaurants. Not being a massive cognac or whisky fan, I found the drink so much more accessible than traditional digestifs. I know it's going to take a while to shed the ‘lemon, salt, shoot’ image, but some of the blends really can stand up to the more traditional after-dinner drinks. Has anyone heard of venues doing tequila tastings for corporate groups? I think I may have inadvertantly found a real winner here. Young city boys would be so much more up for going to a tequila tasting hosted by a funky, young barman than they would a wine session held by a stuffy old sommelier.
