Mini celebrations…

According to a certain party listings website, this year more offices are opting for smaller, departmental festive shindigs, rather than a massive all-in bash.

What are your thoughts on this? Are you dancing and dining in departments? Would you prefer to mingle with the masses?

I've just moved to a new company that doesn't subsidise the Christmas bash at all. Quite a change from the lash-fest my previous employer used to put on.

Christmas is the ideal time to say ‘thanks’ to staff. There's a party allowance tax break available for employers too, I believe. Seems a shame that some firms don't make the most of it; there's plenty of party planners out there that can make a small budget go far.

You're quite right Gentleman S, it doesn't have to be expensive, there are plenty of venues offering reasonably priced set menus for as little as £15 a head – its worth checking out restaurants and bars, instead of just large venues with pre-planned themes.
