Creative flowers on a budget?

How can I create wow-factor tablecentres without spending too much of my budget on flowers? I'm looking to do a Thai-themed dinner party for around 50 guests (on round tables of 8-10) and will probably go for a simple venue so looking to create something quite special on the tables. Any ideas?

I'm trying to come up with ideas for my wedding in October for table centres too! Florists are so expensive. Our theme is decadent jazz club. Maybe for Thai rather than flowers, you could do a beautiful bowl of lotus flowers floating on water with mini tealights? Or create more of a plant-based arrangement using fragrant Thai herbs?

Hi there,
Thanks for your posts. We asked our Twitter followers for suggestions and one of the event organisers told us the team at Simply Flowers are really creative – even with non-flower centrepieces: simply-flowers.net
We'd also suggest looking into prop hire companies like Themetraders: Theme Traders - Costumes and Props
Loving the idea of the potted Thai herbs!
Thanks guys!

PS. Another twitter follower has just suggested pretty glass bowls with live goldfish. Could look really striking but make sure you take care of the fish afterwards!

Dunelm Mill have glass candleholders at a great price. The black version is perfect for a decadent jazz club theme.

I've seen live goldfish as a centre piece at a wedding; it doesn't go down well with guests and you only need one drunk idiot at the end of the night to spoil things; I would steer clear, I too like the sound of Thai herbs!
