Advice on Alice in Wonderland themed events?

(menu)

I'e been asked to put on an event of upwards of 100 people with an Alice in Wonderland theme.

Guests will be all ages, how do I make sure it comes across as fun but not tacky?

Also, how to plan this theme indoors is tricky…

Aggy,

It all depends on budget! There are a couple of amazing bespoke prop companies that can either make you props or already have a stock (especially of something like Alice in Wonderland).

The company Event Prop Hire are great, have a look on their website under their Alice in Wonderland theme. Giant Drink Me bottles, cupcakes, tea cups etc.

If that's out of your budget I'd highly recommend using a set designer used to creating stunning effects with a smaller budget. I know a brilliant one who is ex Royal Opera House and Jim Henson if you're interested.

I recently saw a production of Wizard of Oz and she'd transformed the entire foyer of the theatre into Auntie Em and Uncle Henry's house. It was unbelievably realistic and she had a very small budget.

Event Prop Hire

Thank you very much Victoria!

Aggy, Victoria is correct, we have some great Alice items available to hire that are particularly suitable for indoor use.

Go to the Channel 4 iplayer thingy and look up Heston Blumenthal's Victorian feast – some very cool ideas in that programme!

I loved all of Heston's ‘feasts’ – particularly the Victorian one with the Alice in Wonderland theme! I think food is a great way to enhance a theme as it means you can go for a more subtle decor and avoid being tacky.

Hi there Victoria,

Would you be able to provide me with the detail of the person who was a set designer? Ex Royal House and Jim Henson as mentioned above.

I also have to organise an Alice in Wonderland theme for a High Tea event and we have a small budget on this. It would be great promotion for your contact being set up in a new hotel!

Many thanks,

Lu
