 | MissSushi( 30s, Female, London&Paris )Honestly I would not call the food at The River Cafe sublime. It's pretty decent, but I'd recommend L'anima for an outstanding Italian evening. The food is very flavorful yet incredibly delicately prepared, the wine list is extensive and the service personable and attentive.

 | Tomato( Female, United Kingdom )Maybe I was being a little generous with sublime and looking back with rose tinted glasses! Thank you for the L'anima recommendation I went for a lunch a year or so ago and it was absolutely fantastic, just hoping for a west London outpost!

 | I think The River Cafe is only worth the expense if you can coincide your booking (lunch not dinner) with a sunny day (near impossible!) and manage to bag a table outside (tough). Then the combination of the food, setting and weather create something you won't find elsewhere in London. I've always felt a bit ripped off though: the food is good, but incredibly simple, and somewhere like Zucca does very similar food at a quarter of the price. My husband really didn't get what all the fuss was about…I'm more in awe due to being a big fan of Rose & Ruth.

 | Kim H.( 30s, Female, London )Does anyone else feel that the River Cafe is resting on its laurels somewhat? It doesn't seem to be as good as its reputation suggests. I agree with the L'Anima suggestion. Also I would suggest Locanda Locatelli as a great Italian, although it is a bit pricey if you go with the fish options. But the ravioli at £14 is a bargain, given the exceptional quality
