Private room in a fun restaurant with fab food

(menu)

Hi, I've got a dilemma.

I'm arranging a dinner for 14 pax – the brief is a private room in a fun restaurant with great food but I can't seem to find anywhere that combines all elements.

It's for a significant birthday celebration so a ‘wow’ venue would be good but it needs to be a fun and buzzy place too. I'd rather fun and buzzy than wow.

I don't want to book a private room which is completely cut off from the atmosphere of the restaurant so a partially screened off area would be ideal.

Great food but not at any cost. I'm thinking £50-60 per head.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Paradise By Way of Kensal Green would be my reccomendation – the pub is enormous and the private dining room is beautiful with it's own access to a little roof terrace. Food is brill and the atmosphere is certainly buzzy.

Check their website and see who's on when you want to go as they often have DJ's, live acts, comedy, caberet etc upstairs.

Jojo – do you need to be in any particular area of London?

I can see why you are having trouble as most private rooms are isolated from the main restaurant.

I can think of two places that may be suitable:

Cecconi's , just off Bond Street, is always a good bet as they have a kind of side room off the main dining room that can act as a private room but you still get the buzz / view of the main restaurant. They also do a good set menu. Lovely Italian food with great service – Mayfair wow factor but still buzzy place. Giacomo is the general manager there and he is good person to speak to about your requirments.

Pizza East in Shoreditch has a cool set up for big group of people. They have a kind of private booth but, again, it is in the main restaurant so you get all the buzz and atmosphere of the same place but at the same time you are slightly set aside from everyone else. For £50-£60 a head you can eat like kings at Pizza East and there is the concrete bar downstairs which is good for a drink after. Speak to Josh or Hannah at Pizza East – they will look after you.

Hope this is helpful…

Many thanks for your replies, very helpful.

In terms of location, Central or West is best so Cecconi's looks like it could be a good place for me to look at to start with (and the set menu looks delicious!).

Hi Jojo
How about Avenue in St James? They have a mezzanine area where you are raised above the main restaurant but still feel a part of it.
Good luck!

Yes, Avenue's a good idea and I know the mezzanine area you mention. However, I seem to recall that the birthday boy isn't that keen on Avenue, or maybe that was just because he went last year in the height of summer only to discover they don't (or didn't) have aircon!

What about St John in Shoreditch, it has a mezzanine level overlooking the restaurant, so there is lots of atmosphere and the food is good too?
