 | Take her to Helene Darroze on Rue d'Assas. Fabulous, but not snooty or overly formal. And just around the corner from Pierre Herme, who makes the best macaroons in the world. Don't forget a few cocktails at the Experimental Cocktail Club – what an experience. Enjoy!

 | The best meal I've ever had was at L'Arpege. Admittedly it was about four years ago, but Alain Passard is a genius.

 | My favourite is La Fontaine de Mars near the Eiffel Tower – everything you want from a French restaurant – checked tablecloths; duck confit; ile flottante, all of that – plus nice outside tables too (by la fontaine itself). It's one of chef Simon Hopkinson's favourite places to eat.
