If you and your partner like fine wines, you should take him to Marcus Wareing @ the Berkeley Hotel for his B'day. I was taken there when it was still Petrus and the wine selection is to die for. If money is not an object order the tasting menu accompanied by different wines – it's spectaculary good, and the dining room is also very old fashioned-romantic.

You never hear anyone talking about it but every time I go, I'm absolutely blown away by the cooking. The truffle risotto with brown butter is desert island stuff!

I would have to say that The Square was the most memorable because apart from the food being divine, they made a special effort for my boyfriend's birthday last year. The room is also much warmer than Rousillon which can be quite formal and stuffy. I've recently been to Marcus Wareing and unfortunately it did not live up to its reputation. The service was unbearably slow and the food lacked flair and flavour. I'm trying The Greenhouse in two weeks time after hearing fabulous things about the food and service and will report back. Good luck with your choice- am sure you'll have a fabulous time!
