Yau brings modern Bangkok to the Angel

Naamyaa Cafe - Naamyaa_Cafe_2012_-_Chicken_naamyaa_set_low_res.jpgNaamyaa Café, the latest offering from Alan Yau (of Wagamama and Hakkasan fame), is set to open in Islington this month.

A sister to Yau’s 10-strong Thai chain Busaba Eathai, Naamyaa will channel Bangkok’s modern cafés, which serve both Thai street-food dishes and Western offerings. Expect regional Thai curries served in terracotta pots (called naamyaa) at two-thirds the price of dishes at Busaba Eathai.

Yau, a key player on the London restaurant scene for more than 20 years, has several more upcoming London projects, including a Turkish concept. It looks like those retirement plans will be on hold for a while yet.
