Tried & Tested: Skyfall

Ever fancied running away with the circus? We tried the next best thing – a morning in the treetops with flying trapeze experts Gorilla Circus . gorilla t & t reviews - DSC_0906.jpg

Strapping on a harness before jumping off a wooden platform suspended seven metres above Regent’s Park isn’t where we usually find ourselves on a Monday morning. But when the chance to perform a circus trick comes up, we’re more than happy to get involved.  After signing the compulsory disclaimer and, we feared, our lives away, we had a quick warm-up before practising our flying technique on the lower bar . warm up gorilla - DSC_0761.jpg This wasn’t particularly reassuring, but we were told that the momentum would make it easier once we got up there. All too soon, we were climbing up the rickety ladder for the first of our attempts to qualify for the formidable ‘catch’. two people gorilla - DSC_0946.jpg   One of our team had a little too much gusto, and while swinging to hook her legs over the bar ended up doing a near backflip straight off the bar. The second try was more successful, and by the time it came to our third and final attempt, three of us were good enough to perform the showpiece. After a pep-talk and a chalking-up, we were ready for our one shot at the move, and with fellow flyers – plus a few mesmerised passers-by – cheering us on, we all passed with flying colours. One small step for man, one giant leap for team V&E.   from below gorilla - DSC_0877.jpg
