Six is the Magic Number

Festival NO 6 - 4sm.jpgSometimes a new festival appears on the UK circuit that makes even hard-core habitués of the scene sit up and take notice. Last year it was the turn of Festival No. 6 in Portmeirion, which was handed the accolade of Best New Festival at the UK Festival Awards. And now they’re back, with a brand-new line-up just announced.

Manic Street Preachers are set to headline (following a two-year absence from performing live in the UK) and they will be celebrating the 15th anniversary of their album This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours, whose cover was actually shot on the beach of Portmeirion.

Other live acts include electronic soul prodigy James Blake, who blew the cognoscenti away with his eponymous debut in 2011 when he was just 22. Representing the indie side of things, Chapel Club will be performing, alongside Mancunian band Everything Everything.

Festival NO 6 - 3sm.jpgDJs already announced include Carl Craig, Andrew Weatherall and Gilles Peterson, while a full programme of talks and readings will feature the likes of Tracey Thorn (from Everything But The Girl), John Niven (author of Kill Your Friends) and Caitlin Moran.

A dreamy location requires a dreamy line-up, and it looks as if the organisers of Festival No. 6 have achieved that.

Festival No. 6 will take place from 13-15 September. For more information and tickets, visit the festival website.
