Roganic resurrected?

simon rogan roganic 2011 - roganic3.jpgThe Marylebone site of Simon Rogan’s London restaurant Roganic will close this month as planned – and for the time being, the chef is focusing his energies on his two new Manchester ventures, both located in the city’s Midland Hotel, and his two-Michelin-starred Cumbrian flagship L’Enclume.

‘When we opened The French in Manchester it almost killed me,’ Rogan told Square Meal. ‘It was very hard work and required a lot of my attention, so I decided that to open a second Roganic in the new site in London we’d found – which was bigger, posher and would require a lot more involvement – was too much, and we pulled out.’

However, don’t be surprised if Roganic is resurrected before its ashes have completely cooled. ‘The Manchester restaurants have opened our eyes in terms of operating within a hotel, where there’s less pressure for us,’ Rogan told us. ‘We are still looking to relocate Roganic, and we’re talking to a couple of people. I feel obligated to the team, so I can’t just walk away.’
