When it comes pancakes, we only want the flipping best. So here’s our selection of the hottest pre-Lent pancake action around town.

All Star Lanes
Pancakes come free at London’s four branches of All Star Lanes - so long as you order a main course, you’re entitled to a stack of American-style pancakes served with blueberry compote, maple syrup and whipped cream, all on the restaurant.

It’s Vietnamese pancakes which are order of the day for Shrove Tuesday at this pan-Asian Fitzrovia restaurant. They are called bhan xeo, which means ‘sizzling cake’ due to the sound the batter makes when it hits the pan. They are served with a variety of fillings such as chopped pork, prawns, fish and vegetables.

Chef Eric Chavot will be serving the delightfully classic French dessert of Crêpes Suzette to mark Pancake Day this year, a perfect serve for the grand surrounds of his Mayfair brasserie.

pancakes.jpgThis Marylebone Italian headed up by chef Maurizio Morelli is giving a bellissimo twist to Pancake Day. Classic desserts including tiramisu and affogato are joined on Shrove Tuesday menus by pancakes with a filling of ricotta, Sicilian blood orange and vanilla.

This St Martin’s Lane wine bar with a penchant for all things natural and biodynamic will be adding something particularly indulgent to its list for Shrove Tuesday: crêpes drizzled in salted caramel sauce.

The Gun & Chiswell Street Dining Rooms
This brace of pubs, owned by Tom and Ed Martin, won’t be leaving pancakes for dessert (although there will be some of those, too). The Gun in Docklands will be serving pancakes filled with hog roast, apple, watercress and smoked paprika, while in the City, Chiswell Street Dining Rooms will be serving crab-and-sweetcorn pancakes with lobster sauce.

Hibiscus
Keen to do things a little differently, Claude Bosi won’t be serving your classic pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, instead opting to serve delicate crêpes filled with soufflés for something light yet indulgent and extra special.

Perfect for those who work in Mayfair, the Mount Street Deli will be serving pancakes to go from a stand outside their shop. Get your pancake fix for just £1, between 2-6pm. Fillings include lemon and sugar, and hot chocolate.
