'Scuse me while I kiss the sky,' shouts Jimi Hendrix from the psychedelic mural that dominates this new suite at The Cumberland. Well, alright then, Mr Hendrix, we'll go ahead and do just that. There's certainly lots else to keep us occupied in this room, not least the resident bottle of Jack Daniels (a nice touch) and DVD of the big man himself playing live at Woodstock, which the cleverly swivel-fixed telly lets you watch either in bed or from the sofa. Conceived by Mary Gannon Design, with help from album cover artist Andie Airfix, the suite commemorates the 40th anniversary of Jimi Hendrix' death. And, as befits a tribute to what many would describe as the greatest guitar player of all time, there is naturally a replica of his favourite instrument, the 'Flying V', on the wall, above the shagpile carpet. Note that the space is quite compact so any guests need to be selected carefully.
