Father's Day in London

(menu)

Want to treat dad this Sunday? Try one of these special Father's Day events going on in the capital:

Albannach_2009_-_Albannach_879.jpgAlbannach (pictured left): Trafalgar Square-based Scottish bar and restaurant Albannach is running two whisky events this Father’s Day weekend. The first is a whisky masterclass, courtesy of Albannach’s sommelier. Taking place from 4-6pm on Sunday 20 June and priced at £20 per person, the event will include everything from what makes a whisky peaty to the proper way to nose your dram. Alternatively, book a whisky lunch. Available from Saturday 19 to Monday 21 June and priced at £30, the three-course meal will come with whiskies matched to each course.

The Gun in Docklands: The popular east London gastropub is offering a special package on Father's Day. One generous son can treat his dad and some mates to a five-course dinner in the pub's private River Room for £125 per person (minimum of six people). Dad can expect whisky on the terrace, followed by courses such as rare-breed steak and chips and then chocolate fondant, all with paired wines, and either a game of poker, a choice of films or a go on a Playstation 3 to round the evening off.tamarind.jpg

Imli: Dads eat for free at the Soho Indian this Sunday. A special Father's Day menu includes courses such as spiced potato cakes with chickpeas, onion and tamarind chutney, and chicken cooked in green chilli, with mint and coriander sauce, and is priced at £19.95, or £0 for dads eating in a family of four. Furthermore, one lucky dad will win a case of Cobra beer.

Tamarind (pictured right): Dads also eat free at Michelin-starred Indian restaurant Tamarind in Mayfair. A special Father's Day menu will include dishes such as tandoor-roasted lamb cutlet with paprika, yoghurt and mint chutney, and chicken tikka with glazed onions in a tomato, ginger, honey and fenugreek leaf sauce, and is priced at £35 for non-dads.
